Measuring principle

The sample is rapidly digested under strong oxidant (potassium dichromate), catalyst (silver sulfate), and high temperature conditions. Chromium (VI) is reduced to Chromium (III), and the color of the reaction solution changes; the degree of color change is proportional to the concentration of organic compounds in the sample. The instrument can calculate COD through spectrophotometric.
