Reclaimed Water Flow Monitoring for a Treatment Project in Mexico
Project Overview
A water treatment project in Mexico required reliable measurement of clean water supplied for reuse within the plant.
The system needed to monitor flow and water quality while accommodating changes in water demand during different operating periods.
Application Challenges
The main requirements included:
- Confirming conductivity levels in the clean water
- Selecting suitable flow ranges for different pipeline sizes
- Monitoring reclaimed water consumption in real time
- Supporting outdoor installation
- Connecting measurement data to the central control room

Solution Provided
The project adopted three SUP-LDG electromagnetic flowmeters together with Supmea pH and conductivity instruments, including the SUP-PH6.5, SUP-TDS210-B, and SUP-TDS7001.
The recorded operating conditions included:
- Medium: Clean water for reuse
- Pipeline sizes: 2, 3, and 4 inches (DN50, DN80, and DN100)
- Pressure: Approximately 87 psi (0.6 MPa)
- Flow ranges: Approximately 15–154, 40–396, and 62–616 gpm
- Communication: 4–20 mA and RS485
- Installation environment: Outdoor
The flowmeters featured PTFE lining, IP65 protection, and a 304 stainless-steel body. Supmea also provided installation guidance, expedited delivery, and door-to-door transportation.

Results and Benefits
According to the project records and customer feedback, the solution delivered:
- Reclaimed water metering error reduced from ±2.5% to within ±0.5%
- Automatic data recording once per second instead of manual readings once per day
- Real-time water-use monitoring from the central control room
- A wider measurement range to accommodate changing water demand
- Corrosion-resistant materials that help reduce maintenance requirements
The installed instruments now provide continuous flow and water quality data for the plant’s water reuse system.
